#Surprise The journal you published at is where I serve as an 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 ✍️

💬 Another common question I get from senior researchers is why I haven't been publishing a lot despite working on many projects.

Well, not all projects allow for publication, especially those with 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 content. Many of the industry projects (research collaboration agreements) I've worked on involve 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 that should be kept within the parties to maintain a 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞.

Perhaps an additional metric to track research papers 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐑𝐋 and the types of projects [grant/industry] to assess research competency?

#ICYMI 💡 I've been serving as a honorary 𝐓𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 at Photonics since 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏, and I'm honored to continue for a second term… into my 4th year. As an editor, I drive the manuscript submission and peer review process, curates manuscript quality, makes pre/ final decisions on manuscript acceptance, provides constructive feedback to authors, promotes journals, and improves journal quality and impact in the field of photonics, optics, and photon. 🌟
