SINGAPORE — I spent an incredibly insightful day at the MDPI Singapore’s Engineering Editors’ Salon, surrounded by a room comprised entirely of the Editorial Board Members, Guest Editors and academic leaders. ⚜️🌟

💡 With the day’s themes centered around responsible AI governance and AI in publishing ✍️, it was a true privilege to delve into these critical conversations alongside established engineering professors from local research ecosystem like from National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

As generative AI continues to reshape academia, establishing robust governance frameworks is no longer optional. It is a necessity! We had an engaging, multi-faceted discussions/presentations tracking the full lifecycle of AI integration in scientific publishing:

✅ Authorship & Manuscript Writing: Setting clear ethical boundaries for how researchers utilize AI as a collaborative tool without compromising academic integrity or original contribution.

✅ Peer Review Process: Reaffirming that peer review relies on the authentic knowledge and subject-matter expertise of human reviewers; manuscripts must never be uploaded into generative AI tools to strictly preserve author confidentiality and data privacy.

✅ Editorial Decision-Making: Defining the human-in-the-loop safeguards required to ensure AI remains a supportive analytical tool, rather than the final arbitrator of acceptance.

💭 Engaging with Singapore’s leading academic gatekeepers on these pivotal challenges was both humbling and deeply motivating. A huge thank you to the organizers, MDPI Singapore, for creating a space for such timely dialogue, and to the keynote speakers and distinguished professors for sharing their profound insights on how AI impacts scientific publishing. 🤝

#Honoured to Moderate Three Sessions at IEEE ICHMS 2026

SINGAPORE—Last week I was at an IEEE conference in a different capacity at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) — Session Moderator at the 6th IEEE International Conference on Human-Machine Systems. 💻

💬 Moderating isn’t just cue cards and timing; it’s about #creating space for honest exchange, nudging conversations toward action, and catching the one sentence that changes the room. ✨ The three sessions delivered sharp ideas, #generous questions, and a real sense of people listening to one another, exactly why I enjoy convening conversations on AI #governance, trust, and responsible AI, airspace #management and hybrid intelligence, and human‑AI #education. 🤖📚 

Among a strong line‑up of speakers for the three-day event, I also had the chance to sit down with keynote speaker Associate Professor John Dong, Nanyang Business School (NBS) as he unpacked his research on AI compliance and its tangible effects on industry practice and impact on people. 💡 His examples turned abstract frameworks into immediate, practical questions for practitioners. 📈 

Left with fresh perspectives and practical takeaways.
